Kuwait Science Fair is the largest annual science competition in Kuwait, encompassing over 150 high-schools from across the country. The fair was created and founded as a joint partnership between ExxonMobil Exploration & Production Kuwait Limited and Kuwait Energy Co. to encourage young scientists to apply maths and science to a project of their choice in a competitive atmosphere.
Two TEA students reached the last 100 of this prestigious competition. The Final was held on Saturday 6th March 2010 where each competitor had to present their project and findings to a panel of 6 Judges. The event took place at Salwa Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Theatre and Hall under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Minister of Oil and Information and Chairman of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.
The students only had two months to create their science projects and the competition consisted of different stages which included proposals, plans, procedures, experiments, scientific journals, scientific papers, presentations and a built display. Mahmoud Jawdat Al Suliman, a Year 9 student, received a certificate acknowledging his place in the top 100 for his project on “Haze Monitor: To Investigate The Amount of Haze Produced In The Atmosphere”
