Key Stage 3
Key Stage 3 is the term for Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9. This stage of your child’s education builds on their achievements at Key Stage 2. In these years, as well as the core subjects of English, Maths and Science, we offer a variety of others subjects.
Key Stage 3 is the first stage when subject specialists deliver the majority of your child’s lessons. We aim to provide an excellent learning environment where students feel safe, supported and are given the opportunities to develop the skills that will equip them for learning in a changing society. Year 9 is often referred to as the pre-IGCSE year because students are given the foundations for the IGCSE courses studied in Years 10 and 11.
Key Stage 4
Key Stage 4 covers Years 10 and 11. In Year 10 students begin their IGCSE courses which lead to external examinations at the end of Year 11. These examinations are through UK examinations boards and are recognised globally.
During Key Stage 4 students get help and advice regarding careers and post 16 education. To reflect the maturity of and to encourage students to develop teamwork and leadership skills, posts of responsibility are available, including prefect and house captain.
